The Lachin Corridor, the only road connecting Artsakh/Nagorno Karabakh to Armenia and the world, has been closed by Azerbaijan.
On December 12, 2022, a group of Azerbaijanis has closed the Lachin Corridor in violation of the November 2020 ceasefire agreement signed by Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan. As a result of the siege, 120,000 civilians from Artsakh/Nagorno-Karabakh are deprived of basic goods, medicine, gas, and electricity. It is apparent that the Azerbaijanis who identify themselves as “ecology activists” and block the road while chanting “Long live Azerbaijan!” are organized by Azerbaijani official authorities. Aliyev, who suppresses any kind of emancipatory movement certainly does not care about ecology, but seeks to de-Armenianize Artsakh and force the civilian population to leave their lands. After more than two months of blockade, Karabakh is in urgent need of humanitarian aid.
We demand that the blockade on Artsakh be lifted and the Lachin Corridor be opened immediately.
